CFL Infrastructure were contracted to investigate the structural form of the roof slab, the support conditions, and the suitability of proposed tower plinth locations to allow for future telecommunication development at the site.
The slab was a non-uniform reinforced concrete waffle slab, with varying amounts of steel reinforcement situated at different locations.
This made it a challenge for our clients designers to assess the structural capabilities of the slab.
Using multiple concrete reinforcement assessment techniques, CFL were able to build an overall picture of the slab, and how it was working under the current loads.
Recommendations for design alterations for the project were made and accepted by the designers.
CFL Infrastructure were contracted to carry out a telecommunication towers foundation structural survey on a site in Folkstone, Kent to allow for the installation of a tower strengthening steelwork.
We undertook a ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey of the reinforced concrete foundation to determine reinforcement depth, spacing, and diameter, as well as any embedded features and ducting.
We also carried out rebound hammer testing to provide an estimated compressive strength of the concrete.
